Wir haben nicht auf Godot gewartet,

sondern auf die Fähren von State City Cruise und das mehrfach. Aber ohne die Warterei kein Besuch auf den beiden Inseln im Hafen von New York – Liberty und Ellis Island. Auf der ersten Insel haben wir eine Dame besucht, aber dazu mehr in einer separaten Geschichte. Auf Ellis Island wird die Geschichte der Einwanderer lebendig, denn hier befand sich die am stärksten frequentierte Einwandererstation der USA. Hier wurden von 1892 bis 1954 knapp 12 Millionen Einwanderer inspiziert und deren Anträge bearbeitet. Die ursprünglich nur 1,89 ha große Insel wurde durch Landgewinnung bis in die 1930er Jahre auf 11,1 ha erweitert.

but for the ferries of State City Cruise and that several times. But without waiting the visit to the two islands in the Harbor of New York – Liberty and Ellis Island – wouldn’t have been possible. On the first island we visited a lady, but more on that in a separate story. Ellis Island is where the history of immigrants comes alive, as it was the site of the busiest immigrant station in the United States. Nearly 12 million immigrants were inspected and their applications processed here from 1892 to 1954. Originally only 4.68 acres, the island was expanded by land reclamation to 27.5 acres by the 1930s.
